The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully. - Richard Dawkins

This was fascinating. I've always been curious about black holes. Something from nothing. Wow.
ReplyDeleteGenesis 1:2 says "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."
Only one question remains for me. Does "God" require time? If indeed God is the infinite, and he/she is all things, perhaps this verse in Genesis makes more sense now. In fact, perhaps the more we discover about the science, the more science and religion can begin to converge in fascinating ways. If God has no form and is all things, we can begin to discuss the possibility that perhaps the God-like force is not one force or cause acted upon the infinite but rather the infinite itself and the force it IS.
Thank you so much for sharing this!
