The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully. - Richard Dawkins

Declaring things does not make them true, no matter how loudly, or how incessantly you declare them, or how much emotion you put behind them, or how much pseudo-science you use to back them up, or how many threats you attach to them, or how much popular support they have, or how wonderful it would be if they were true, or what holy book they come from, or how much good believing in them has done or could do for the world, or how intense your personal revelation of them is, or how superior they might be to other beliefs, or the fact that nobody has a better explanation at the moment, or that it's just wrong not to believe in magic.  None of these things has any bearing on the truth or falsehood of a proposition. The only thing that does is EVIDENCE.  Why?  Because we happen to be rational creatures with thinking minds.  Those minds are the ONLY tools we have (the only tools God has given us) to distinguish between reality and fantasy.  I intend to put mine to use.
